Police are asking travelers to plan ahead for traffic issues near the South Texas State Fair this week at the Ford Park Entertainment Complex.
The fair kicked off Thursday and features multiple entertainment options including live music, a rodeo, quilt and cattle shows, a beer garden, petting zoo and exhibit hall attractions. The fair will end on April 3.
Beaumont Police are asking visitors to be aware of nearby road closures and a bridge replacement.
“Due to ongoing construction in the areas surrounding Ford Park, traffic routes to and from the fair will be affected,” the Beaumont Police Department said in a news release.
The release said the westbound Interstate 10 Major Drive exit will be closed during rush hour to prevent traffic from backing onto Interstate 10. Police also reminded travelers that Texas 124 or Fannett Road will also be closed. closed just east of Walden Road due to bridge. replacement.
Police have provided a list of the following recommended routes and information for motorists traveling to the fair:
Fairgoers from the north of the city, traveling west on Interstate 10, We recommend taking the Walden Road exit, turning right onto Walden Road and continuing to Major Drive. Turn left onto Major Drive, then continue onto Interstate 10. After crossing Interstate 10, turn left onto the service road and enter Gate 4, the main marquee entrance leading to Ford Park.
Fairgoers from west of town, traveling east on Interstate 10, We recommend taking the Highway 365 exit and turning right onto Highway 365, then continuing onto Texas 124 (Fannett Road) and turning left onto Texas 124 toward Major Drive. On arriving at the Major Drive flashing red light, turn left onto Major Drive and continue onto Major Drive into Ford Park using Gate 2.
Fairgoers entering Beaumont on Highway 96/Cardinal Drive from Mid/South County and South Beaumont It is advised to continue on Interstate 10 West, take the Walden Road exit, turn right on Walden Road and continue to Major Drive. Turn left onto Major Drive, then continue onto Interstate 10. After crossing Interstate 10, turn left onto the service road and enter Gate 4, the marquee’s main entrance into Ford Park.
