LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Thursday that Lubbock is a Film Friendly Texas community. Lubbock is now one of 150 or more communities in Texas with the Film Friendly designation. This means Lubbock can meet industry standards and best practices to effectively host on-location filming.
“Lubbock and West Texas have been ‘movie friendly’ for dozens of popular movies over the years,” rep Dustin Burrows said.

Governor Abbott Announces Movie-Friendly Texas Designation for the City of Lubbock
AUSTIN — Governor Greg Abbott announced today that the city of Lubbock, after going through the multi-step training and certification process, has been designated a Film Friendly Texas community by the Texas Film Commission, which for 50 years helped grow local jobs and the economy by promoting the Lone Star State as a premier destination for film, television, advertising, animation, visual effects, and video game production.
“I congratulate the city of Lubbock on achieving the Film Friendly Texas designation and joining more than 150 other communities in Texas,” Governor Abbott said. “With our goal of unleashing the economic might of the Lone Star State, I am committed to working alongside all of our communities to ensure they have the knowledge and tools to succeed. Through the Film Friendly Texas training and certification process, communities large and small are ready to help local businesses meet production needs, create jobs for Texas-based crew members and local residents, as well as stimulate on-site spending in small local businesses. businesses.
