Bruins set up service clinic in Texas state sweep


HONOLULU- The No. 23-ranked UCLA women’s volleyball team staged a service clinic with 11 aces in their straight-set sweep (25-22, 25-13, 25-18) of the state of Texas at the Stan Sheriff Center Friday night.

Libero Mackenzie Cole led the Bruins (3-1) with five service aces, one shy of a career high, while McCall and Francesca Alupei the two distributed two.

First-year student Grayce Olsonwho made his debut in the starting lineup, reached double-digit wins for the second time in his early career with 14 to lead the team tonight.

UCLA also went well against Texas State (3-2). The Bobcats had just one serving ace as UCLA discarded 72.3 percent (40-55) of Texas State serves.

Next: UCLA closes the Outrigger Volleyball Challenge against host Hawai’i (2-3) Sunday night at 8 p.m. PT. The game is available to stream on ESPN+. Similar to the Bruins, the Rainbow Wahine have also swept West Virginia and Texas State so far in the Outrigger Volleyball Challenge.
